Dr. Said Alshaikh

Dr. Said Alshaikh is the Director General of Studies and Consultation Center, and a professor of Economics at the University of Business and Technology (UBT). Before joining UBT in 2020, he had been the Chief Economist at National Commercial Bank since February 1998. Alshaikh is an Ex-member of the Majlis Ashoura, serving as a member of the Economics and Energy Committee for the period (2009- 2020). He was also a member of the Consultative Commission for the GCC Supreme Council for the period (2015-2020). Alshaikh was an assistant professor of Economics at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) between 1993 and 1998. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from KFUPM, a master’s degree in public policy and management from the University of Oregon, and a PhD in Economics from Cornell University.
He is Fellow Chartered Accountant from India and CPA from US. He holds Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, India. He is also trained in FX, Hedging & Derivatives by Euro Money London.
For his distinguished work, he has been awarded the prestigious Global CFO excellence award for Best Real Estate CFO (UAE) and Best Corporate Turnaround CFO (MiddleEast).
He is also a regular speaker in several Regional /Global financial and restructuring conferences.
